Hello to all of you! I welcome you to my profile. You would like to learn French and I would also like to teach you French. Fortunately, French is my native language. I live in Brussels where I have taught many French courses to French speakers and also to non-French speakers in the framework of FLE (French as a Foreign Language), mostly face-to-face and also some distance learning. I want to expand the use of distance learning. Hence my presence on this site. My greatest wish is to help you make as much progress as possible in French. To this end, I use a judicious combination of oral and written exchanges. I use these conversations to introduce grammatical concepts and expand your vocabulary. All this in a fun and friendly atmosphere! You will have to express yourself a lot in French, because my level of Dutch is average. In fact, I speak it at a "normal" pace, but with a more limited vocabulary and expressions than yours. This may seem a little frustrating at first, but it is a real benefit to you as it forces you to express yourself in French as much as possible! It's all in your favor! I am very flexible in teaching. The aim is for the student to reach a target level as quickly as possible. For this I analyze during the first lesson where the shortcomings are and in this way draw up a learning program (always in consultation with the student/parents). I attach great importance to learning the perfect pronunciation. I also encourage learning to think in the language learned so that the language can be spoken as soon as possible. I like to use different methods to teach French to students. It can be through songs, drama, role play or videos. I also very often use situations close to the student's experience, such as describing places they have been or talking about what they have experienced. At the same time, I teach the grammar rules to the student. I now live in regions where French has been spoken for over 30 years. Because I have learned French myself (and I am still learning other languages), I can easily put myself in a student's shoes. I can teach in French, Dutch, English, German and Russian.

Unless you wish to focus on specific skills, I try to include speaking and listening during the session, while reading and writing exercises are given as homework. Grammar points are handled as and when they come up.

Singing in French is no easy task, but as a native speaker and opera singer, I can help you! We work on pronunciation together, first working on spoken text: getting acquainted with the French sounds and accent and working on how to make sure it sounds French even to a native French! When that's working well, we apply it to the singing. If you want to practice on your own, I can record the text for you. I can also help with you with the translation of a piece or questions you may have about a certain word, a saying or the subtext of a piece.
