Hello! I am a 29 years old classical pianist with a Master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag. I have taught Piano (and also Music Education) since 2016, to both children and adults. Teaching allows me to bring my passion and enthusiasm for music to the students, and I also find it incredibly rewarding to guide and follow their musical and technical development! I am easily adaptable to the student's musical tastes and expectations/goals in music learning, and I am also very mindful of how I communicate, according to the students' ages and personalities. I can teach classical music, pop, rock, or any other style. My approach consists of giving you the necessary theoretical knowledge for what you wish to play; involving you actively in the choice of the pieces/songs you will play; setting up a long-term plan for your repertoire, so that your development is made step by step in a challenging - but achievable - way (and this way, you will feel more motivated!); giving you enjoyable and creative practicing strategies; creating rich imagery revolving around the piece - by making up a story, relating the music to emotions, etc.; and also positive feedback! Thus, my lessons will allow you to: - Learn how to read scores. -Develop your musical understanding (from notes, rhythm, and harmony, to musical taste, and emotional comprehension of the music, or dive into aesthetic principles concerning the period and style of the piece,...). -Improve, step by step, until you are able to play that piece/song that you love. -Prepare yourself for exams. -Etc. In piano lessons, we use the book method of Notus or Hal Leonard. Everything is explained step by step and you gradually learn to read music and know the piano. At the start of our lessons we'll take a look at what is important to you. What goals do you want to set, and what feels achievable and comfortable? We set long-term goals of, for example, a year. Completely tailored to where you are at, right now. During the lessons I am patient, motivating, encouraging, and complimenting. I'll point out what could be better, and also pay attention to how you can play more easily. And much more. Tailored to your needs and wishes.

My flute lessons are available in a flexible time frame from 30 minutes to 1 hour, with a frequency of weekly or biweekly, depending on your preference. As a graduated flutist with a bachelor and master degree from the conservatory, where teaching was an important part of my education, I have experience with both group lessons and individual lessons. My method is focused on enthusiasm for music and flute playing, where I welcome every student, regardless of background, language or level. Learning to play the guitar can be an amazing experience at every stage of the process! My ultimate goal is to help my students to develop their skills and musical understanding by learning and playing music that they like. Goal: My goal for every lesson is for you to gain as much insight into the topic as possible. This way, in contrast to mindlessly learning everything by heart, you can remember things way more easily and apply them to any problem/exercise you encounter. Approach: When you ask me a question, my first goal is to try and understand exactly what it is about the topic that you don't understand. Then, instead of simply answering your question, I will ask you an easier version of the question back. In this fashion, I can help you to answer your own questions through helping you find the right path in your reasoning. Additionally, I try to approach the topic from different angles, with lots of real life examples. This way you also get an idea of the use of what you are learning, to give it a sense of purpose. My experience: As an active Civil Engineer, not only do I have profound knowledge of mathematics and physics, but I also have a good understanding of their use in practice. This can be a big advantage for students who don't understand why they need to be learning "all of this crap". Additionally, I have been giving courses regularly since starting university, and have years of experience teaching badminton to youth players once a week. It will be useful for understanding both, basic programming concepts and school- or university-level mathematics.
