Let’s begin your musical journey! Perhaps this is the first time you are playing an instrument? Or you are picking it up having played it years ago. Perhaps you have a dream of where or what you would like to play...or want to improve specific skills to simply enjoy playing more. My aim is to create a path with you (or your child), to discover and develop ways to achieve your own musical goals. I offer 30-minute instrumental lessons – these are aimed at beginner students to build stamina, posture and basic playing techniques. You can combine this with an additional 30 minutes of musicianship, this is for children to build a solid foundation of musical skills –including rhythm, note reading and pitch, composition, tempo and more. Group lessons are possible for beginner players, these can be a fun and motivating way of learning together for students, however these would be regularly reviewed to ensure learning needs of each student are met. I would recommend 60-minute lessons for intermediate student/adult students – this is to work on more complex musical skills, exercises and pieces. Goals for lessons: Making music from day 1 Exploring and refining the craft of playing the instrument Setting reachable goals to build stamina, technique and musicianship Developing ‘inner ear’ with aural exercises Learning musical notation/composition Casual performance opportunities solo or in a group (if desired) Most importantly...having fun! About me... I have worked in instrument music education at schools, academies and privately for the last 12 years, whilst playing professionally as a freelance violin/viola player and conductor with orchestras, musicals and in community music settings in England. I thoroughly enjoy teaching, and base my approach on the needs of the student, using experience in different schools of music teaching - including traditional classical Suzuki and Kodaly principles to more modern day improvisation focussed educators such as Christian Howes and Bobby McFerrin. Ik verwelkom studenten van alle leeftijden, achtergronden en muzieksmaken van harte en zorg ervoor dat onze lessen worden aangepast aan jouw unieke reis, behoeften en voorkeuren. Met een uitgebreide opleiding, waaronder Masters en Bachelors in Fluit Performance, ben ik hier om je muzikale gids te zijn door de betoverende wereld van muziek. Is er een specifieke muziekstijl of een bepaald stuk dat je altijd al onder de knie hebt willen krijgen? Van de tijdloze elegantie van barok tot de levendige ritmes van moderne muziek, de rijkdom van wereldmuziek of de aanstekelijkheid van pop, ik heb jouw muzikale ambities gedekt. Samen ontdekken we jouw unieke muzikale stem. In mijn onderwijsfilosofie geef ik prioriteit aan geïndividualiseerd leren. Er is hier geen one-size-fits-all aanpak. In plaats daarvan streef ik ernaar een persoonlijk en plezierig traject uit te stippelen dat specifiek is afgestemd op uw doelstellingen. Met jarenlange leservaring laat ik je graag kennismaken met de boeiende wereld van fluit en muziek. Maar wacht, er is meer: ik ben ook een professionele fluitist met orkest- en kamermuziekervaring en ik heb een schat aan inzichten om te delen. Ik ben flexibel als het gaat om leslocaties. We kunnen elkaar ontmoeten op verschillende handige plekken in of rondom het centrum van Utrecht. En als het jou uitkomt, ben ik bereid om naar verschillende locaties in Nederland te reizen.
